Do you have to have kids to enjoy Walt Disney World Resort?
Of course not! A big part of the magic of Walt Disney World is that it is fun not just for kids, but for kids at heart as well.
There is definitely a romantic side to Walt Disney World. It’s even a very popular honeymoon destination for many couples.
Disney’s deluxe resorts are perfect for honeymooners. They are impeccably themed with a relaxing and inviting atmosphere. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Savannah view rooms, and Disney’s Boardwalk Inn are some of our favorite resorts for couples. Each has beautiful grounds to explore, cozy spots to sit and relax, and fantastic restaurant options available on-site.
If a deluxe resort doesn’t fit into your budget for this vacation, consider Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter resort. This moderate resort is smaller and quieter than other properties. Its magnolia trees, wrought iron railings, and gas lamps give the property a definite romantic vibe!
Honeymooners, and guests celebrating an anniversary, birthday, engagement, or other special occasions should be sure to pick up a celebration button from guest services at any resort or theme park. You’ll love the extra attention and congratulations from cast members and other guests throughout your stay.
Even without a button, don’t be surprised if cast members are sharing their well wishes… those magic bands you are wearing might just act like a “little birdie” telling them about your special occasion. Whether it’s a sincere congratulations with an extra smile, a glass of champagne at dinner, or even a special delivery to your room, the cast will go out of their way to help you celebrate.
There are plenty of options for romantic dining as well.
Consider booking a few of Disney’s “Signature Dining” restaurants during your stay. The food, service, and atmosphere at these locations are all top-notch. Some of our favorite options are Narcoossee’s at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and the Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club Resort.
Narcoossee’s is known for its exquisite seafood and its extraordinary panoramic view over the Seven Seas Lagoon. Ask for a table near the window, and you’ll have a beautiful view of Cinderella’s Castle.
If you enjoy a good steak dinner, you won’t want to miss the Yachtsman Steakhouse. This upscale New England-style steakhouse is the perfect place for a candlelight dinner for two. Their wine list is impressive as well. In fact, the restaurant hosts a “Wonderful World of Wine” tasting event periodically. Disney describes the event by saying guests will “sample the liquid legacies of some of the finest appellations and vineyards throughout California, Italy, France, Chile, Australia and more—and learn about their flavor profiles, winemaking techniques, and soil and climate conditions.” If you are wine lovers, it’s worth checking to see if this is available during your travel dates.
Several Walt Disney World resorts are also home to top-notch spas. How about a couple’s massage?
You and your significant other can indulge yourselves in this lavish treatment at any one of the spas on property. Our favorites are Senses- A Disney Spa at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Senses- A Disney Spa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. The experience is nothing short of amazing!
There are plenty of places to escape the parks for a romantic “date night” away from the crowds. Watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks and electric water pageant on Seven Seas Lagoon from the beach at the Polynesian Resort. Take a horse-drawn carriage ride from Port Orleans Riverside Resort or the Fort Wilderness Resort. Visit Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, a waterfront resort that replicates a turn-of-the-century Atlantic City, and take an evening stroll under the boardwalk lights.
With all the beautiful resorts and iconic locations inside the parks, consider having some professional photos taken together. You can book a private photo session at several of the deluxe resorts or just look for the Disney PhotoPass photographers in the parks. Having some quality images of the two of you together will make those vacation memories last even longer.
