8/4/21 UPDATE: Disney has confirmed the new Star Wars Resort Hotel – Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser which launches in SPRING 2022, will take Guests to a galaxy far, far away for an all-immersive, two-night vacation experience that goes beyond anything Disney has ever created before.

Since July 2017, when the news of the Star Wars Resort Hotel was first revealed at Disney’s D23 Expo, fans of Disney and fans of Star Wars have united with increased anticipation about the resort theming, amenities and price. Many cries of “Take my money!” have echoed with each new reveal and announcement. Walt Disney World Resorts & Parks are still keeping many of the resort hotel details a secret, but here’s what we do know …

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

Your family will cruise the galaxy in style aboard the Halcyon, a starcruiser known throughout the galaxy for its impeccable service and exotic destinations

Location

Located on the south side of Disney’s Hollywood Studios®, just east of World Drive. Disney’s Star Wars-themed Resort Hotel will allow your immersive experience to be seamlessly connected to the epic Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (which opened Fall 2019).

Theming

This first-of-its-kind resort will combine luxury with complete immersion into an authentic Star Wars story. Your journey through space will start when everyone departs together for a multiday Stars Wars adventure by boarding a starship alive with characters and stories that unfold all around you during a voyage through the galaxy.

At the resort, you’ll immediately become active citizens of the galaxy and can dress up in the proper attire. Every resort window will also have a view into space.

Disney describes the ‘all-immersive’ experience like this… “When Guests watch this new style of lightsaber activate right before their eyes it will be just one of the countless ways that, from the moment they arrive to the moment they depart, they’ll be plunged into a Star Wars story where their decisions and actions – or even the casual conversations they may have – determine how their personal journey unfolds.”

Transportation

There has been much speculation on how Disney will keep guests fully immersed in the Star Wars story. How guests will be transported to the Star Wars Resor Hotel if they arrive at Orlando International Airport or drive directly to the hotel is a burning question for many fans.

Many have guessed exclusive transportation from the Orlando airport using motorcoaches designed specifically for the resort use. Information gleaned from building permits filed with South Florida Water Management District indicate an area for ‘shuttle parking’. This parking could be for both airport and theme park transportation.

On May 4, 2021, Disney described the arrival to Star Wars Galactic Starcruise like this: “Guests’ adventure begins at the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser terminal at Walt Disney World, where Guests will gather with fellow passengers before departing for their intergalactic destination. Guests will soon enter a special Launch Pod and leave their world behind as they make a hyperspace jump to a galaxy far, far away.

Guests will watch through viewports as they approach the massive and magnificent Halcyon starcruiser, which will be their home for the next two nights. When the Launch Pod’s airlock slides open, Guests will take their first step into a galaxy far, far away as Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser comes to life all around them.”

Room Types

The first reveal Disney shared about the Starship cabins is “every resort window will have a view into space.” The concept art included a few more details – bunkbeds, digital displays, space-travel bedding.

Your Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser vacation package includes:

• 2-night stay in a cabin or suite
• Ongoing, immersive and interactive entertainment, where choices determine your experience*

Before the details were announced, here’s what we anticipated: The hotel packages may resemble an all-inclusive package similar to a Disney Cruise Line package. Based on a 3-day, 2-night (rumored) experience, packages would likely include:

• Star Wars starship cabin, minimum occupancy 2
• Meals over 3 days – from arrival through departure: 2 dinners, 2 breakfasts, 1 lunch
• Star Wars Resort Hotel amenities like pool area, shopping/costuming venues, salon & spa, cantina/lounge and more
• 1-day Ticket to Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park with possible exclusive access times to Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge land & attractions
• Star Wars story immersion entertainment throughout your stay, possibly including character interactions, lightsaber training, personalized missions, starship exploration and more

More Details On The Guest Experience

“During their stay aboard this glamorous ship, Guests may interact with an eclectic group of characters both familiar and new, possibly including the starcruiser’s strong and charismatic captain, a plucky ship’s mechanic and a galactic superstar who can captivate an entire room with the crook of one jewel-encrusted purple Twi’lek finger.”

This singing sensation will be a featured performer during one of the exquisite dining experiences inside the Crown of Corellia Dining Room, which you can see in this artist concept rendering we’re sharing today for the first time. The enticing supper club’s name is an homage to Corellia, the planet known galaxy-wide for its shipyards that gave us not only the Halcyon starcruiser, but also the Millennium Falcon. The dining room is a bright and welcoming hall that will offer breakfast and lunch to passengers before transitioning each evening into a lavish multi-course menu of both otherworldly and familiar origins.”

OnBoard Characters

HALCYON’S CAPTAIN: She is a worldly Pantoran with a rich, diverse history and dedication to her vocation. She is a strong and charismatic leader who has served as a well-respected ship commander for some time and demands the attention and focus of every room she walks into.

HALCYON’S CRUISE DIRECTOR: She is a human with the capacity to learn that life is about more than the fun of the moment, and draws inspiration from the efforts she sees being made to bring harmony and justice to the galaxy. A born cruise director who loves travel and adventure, she is a cheerful and harmonious people person.

SHIP MECHANIC: A youthful human with big dreams, his enthusiasm sometimes outpaces his capabilities, and, as a result, he tries to present a braggadocios front to mask the vulnerability of being far from home.

THE FIXER: Character portrayed is a well-traveled, devil-may-care human. A convincing and handsome schemer, he uses his charm to his advantage as he seeks out associates to enlist in his criminal enterprise. His calculated and conniving approach is an intellectual dance; a paso doble that leaves passengers wondering… was he the bull or the matador? He’s known for his sleight of hand tricks.

FIRST ORDER LIEUTENANT: Character portrayed is human and working his way up the ladder. An ambitious officer of the First Order, the Lieutenant is new to his position of power, and is working hard not to let us know that. He doesn’t see a line between abusing and leveraging power.

SABER TRAINER:  Patient and well-composed instructors, Saber Trainers serve as expert wielders of the lightsaber and he/she/they take cruisers through a physical demonstration as they confidently brandish a lightsaber.

TOGRUTAN CRUISER: This hopeless romantic is a friendly and earnest musician who happily serenades his fellow guests as he aspires to impress the Galactic Superstar. He is a strong rhythm guitarist with a happy go lucky, easy going musical style. A struggling singer/songwriter looking for his big break and aspiring to be more than the “alien next door”.

GALACTIC SUPERSTAR: Character portrayed is a Twi’lek who commands respect and flame-roses at her feet. Operating in a legally-dubious world of galactic intrigue while fighting for her race’s integrity and freedom, she is also a phenomenally soulful singer who demands focus in every conversation and performance alike. Her musical style is a hybrid of neo-soul, jazzy, funk, colored by her extensive travel and experiences.

REY: Rey is a survivor, toughened by her life as a scavenger on the harsh desert planet of Jakku. Despite dismissing herself as a “no one”, she learns that her life is being shaped by the mysterious power of the force.

KYLO REN: A menacing Force-sensitive warrior, Kylo is driven by his connection to the dark side to achieve his ultimate goal of galactic domination.

Throughout your adventure, you are encouraged to don your galactic best. As you will become a unique character in the Star Wars galaxy, we invite you to dress the part.

If your wardrobe is currently limited to a single planet, Star Wars galaxy apparel is available in-advance from shopDisney or on the ship.

How will you come dressed? In your Jedi best? Ready to rumble for rough and tumble smuggling? Dressed to impress in your Coruscant best? Or in your most comfortable garb from your home planet? The choice is up to you!

But whatever planet’s clothes you choose to wear, be sure to save your very finest for the traditional end-of-cruise gala celebration!

Dining

Filled with tantalizing treats and delicious dishes inspired by recipes collected from around the galaxy, your dining experiences add flavor and continue the story of your adventure.

Listen to unique musical entertainment during dinner and choose to mingle with Characters you’ve met earlier or just sit back and savor your meal. Discover a precarious new opportunity while you sip a drink at the lounge. Try the local cuisine at a bustling spaceport during your planet excursion. The choice is yours—it’s your Star Wars story!

Dinner

On the first night of your adventure, the Crown of Corellia Dining Room transforms for dinner into an enticing table-service supper club with a special musical appearance by a galactic superstar. You’ll enjoy a special evening with distinctive dining and entertainment as you socialize with passengers and crew.

The second night, The Taste Around the Galaxy showcases courses inspired by the geography and environments of iconic destination planets throughout the galaxy. With the serving of each course, a brief introduction presents the name, inspiration and ingredients for the dishes. The meal includes group appetizers for the table, a choice of entrée and a specialty plated dessert.

You can indicate your preference for first or second dinner seating (based on availability) when you book your vacation package.

Breakfast & Lunch

Breakfast and lunch are also available in the glamorous Crown of Corellia Dining Room. Help yourself to colorful fare from all over the galaxy—along with familiar favorites from your home planet.

Start your day with a unique off-planet breakfast of hot and cold small plates and a variety of beverages including juices, fresh brewed coffee and Bubo Wamba Family Farms blue milk.

During lunch, choose from a collection of small bites, like sandwiches, soups, mini flatbreads, assorted salads and sweets.

Dining During Your Planet Excursion

During your planet excursion to Batuu, you can enjoy a quick-service meal at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo or other select locations at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. *

If you visit Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, you’ll choose from a variety of dishes crafted with ingredients from across the galaxy, expertly prepared by Chef Strono “Cookie” Tuggs from his mobile kitchen—the space freighter atop the docking bay.

Since the construction for the Star Wars Resort Hotel has yet to begin, we only have concept art for the highly anticipated luxury hotel. The first concepts were released by Disney at the 2017 D23 Expo. Since then, additional media including video has been released giving a peek into the hotel rooms and common spaces of the resort.

The immersive vibe of the resort is said to include “windows into space” and the starship will be “alive with characters” as stories unfold for guests.

Star Wars Hotel Announcement Timeline

First Commercial released

August 4, 2021 Catch a glimpse of what this first-of-its-kind vacation experience will be like.

After you’ve watched this one or maybe 10 times, here are a few fun moments that stand out to us:  

• We already know the adventure will begin at the Galactic Starcruiser Terminal at Walt Disney World, where Guests will enter a launch pod and head out into space. In this new clip, we watch out a viewport as the pod jumps to hyperspace, followed by the sudden appearance of the Halcyon starcruiser, home base for this immersive two-night adventure in a galaxy far, far away.
• As we learned last week from Disney Imagineers, the dining experience will certainly be a highlight of a stay aboard the starcruiser.
• You see in the commercial how the Resistance is always looking for new recruits – but will Guests choose to join them?
• As our hero’s family rushes into the scene, you get a view out to space over his shoulder, and then a quick look inside the cabin. The sleeping berths we can see are reminiscent of a similar bunk inside the main hold of the Millennium Falcon, no? And those are definitely some nice robes the family is wearing – they look like Jedi ready for action!  
• When the camera pulls back, we zoom out the cabin’s viewport and into space – where suddenly TIE fighters dart in and hurl some blaster bolts toward the starcruiser. The Imagineers let us know Guests will be trained in bridge operations as part of our stay on the ship, and its laser cannons may come in handy at some point … 

That’s a lot to digest in just 30 seconds!

February 6, 2020 “Reservations will open later this year for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, which debuts in 2021 at Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida. This new two-day and two-night vacation is an all-immersive experience that will take your family to a galaxy far, far away in a way that only Disney could create.”

Star Wars Resort Hotel Named & Itinerary Revealed

August 25, 2019 A Star Wars vacation experience unlike anything Disney has ever created before will fully immerse Guests in a galaxy far, far away when Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser debuts at Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida. Exciting new details were shared Sunday live from D23 Expo 2019 by Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, and Ann Morrow Johnson, executive producer and creative director for Walt Disney Imagineering.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will offer a two-night itinerary where all Guests arrive and depart at the same time, similar to Disney Cruise Line. Unlike any typical cruise, though, your family can become the heroes of their own Star Wars story in a new type of immersive experience that only Disney could create.

May 30, 2018 “Today we are happy to share the location of this exciting addition, which is currently under development on the south side of Disney’s Hollywood Studios®, just east of World Drive.
